Artist Biggs, Travis
Album Solar Funk
Label Source
Year 1979

Biggs was a keyboardist who did a lot of work in the late-70's with Isaac Hayes, who was then getting into a disco mode. He plays a good amount of violin on here, which adds a nice dimension to these fairly run-of-the-mill disco/funk cuts. It's all pretty good, if unremarkable stuff, except for "Tibetan Serenity," a funky Dusty Fingers classic that sounds like nothing else on the album. The flute takes the lead, but the real story is the multi-tracked harp lines that give the song its unique, Eastern feel. It's been sampled a bunch, but one could probably find something else to use.
